| 1 cup | raisins |
| 1 tsp | vanilla |

| 1 cup | dark brown sugar |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 2-1/2 cup | flour |
| 1 tsp | salt |
| 2 tsp | baking soda |
| 1 tsp | cinnamon |
| 2 cup | oatmeal |
| 1/2 cup | chopped nuts |

| mix the first three ingredients and let set in refrigerator for 1-24 hours |
| (the longer the better!). cream shortening and sugars. sift dry |
| ingredients together, mix with sugar mixture, add raisin mixture and |
| oatmeal and nuts. (this will make a stiff dough). push from heaping |
| tablespoon onto greased cookie sheet. bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 |
| minutes. |
