tomato chutney

| 2 kg | ripe tomatoes - peeled and chopped |
| 2 large | apples - peeled and chopped |
| 2 large | onions - chopped |
| 1-1/2 cup | sugar |
| 5 cup | brown vinegar |
| 1/2 tsp | ground cinnamon |
| 1/2 tsp | ground cloves |
| 2 tsp | ground ginger |

| combine all ingredients in a large saucepan. stir over heat without |
| boiling until the sugar is dissolved. bring to the boil and simmer |
| uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 1 1/2 hours, or until the |
| mixture has reached the desired consistency. pour chutney into hot |
| sterilised jars and seal when cold. |
