| 1 quart | self-rising flour |
| 1 cup | [white] sugar |
| 1-1/2 tsp | [pure] vanilla |
| 2 | eggs, [room temperature] |
| 1 cup | butter or lard |

| mix ingredients like making biscuits. [place flour on clean surface. make a |
| well in the center with your hands. place butter in center. cut it in with a |
| pair of knives by criss-crossing until it is mealy. work in rest of |
| ingredients. make a dough. do not overwork.] as soon as you can handle dough, |
| roll out shape as desired. place on cookie sheet. bake in 400 oven until |
| lightly browned. (they burn easily) |
