Old Fashioned Stack Cake

| 4 cup | sifted flour |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 4 tsp | baking powder |
| 1/2 tsp | soda |
| 1 tsp | salt |
| 2 | eggs, beaten |
| 1 cup | buttermilk |
| 1/2 cup | butter |
| 2 tsp | vanilla |

| --Filling:-- |
| |
| 1 lb. | dried apples |
| 1 cup | brown sugar |
| 1/2 cup | white sugar |
| 2 tsp | cinnamon |
| 1/2 tsp | cloves |
| 1/2 tsp | allspice |
| |
| Sift flour into large bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Divide the dough |
| into 6 parts. Roll out on floured board to fill 9" pan. Bake at 450 |
| degrees until brown. Filling: Wash apples. Cook and mash. Add sugar and |
| spices. Alternately stack cake layers and apple mixture. This cake is |
| better if it sets a day or two before cutting. |
