| 2-1/2 cup | all-purpose flour |
| 1 cup | cold butter |
| 3/4 cup | sugar |
| 1/4 cup | quick cooking oats |
| 1/2 tsp | salt |
| 1/2 tsp | ground nutmeg |
| 2 | eggs |
| 1/4 cup | milk |
| 1 cup | dried currants |
| | sugar -- optional |
| |
| Place flour in a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse |
| crumbs. |
| Add sugar, oats, salt and nutmeg. Stir in eggs and milk. Add currants. |
| On a heavily floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4" thickness. |
| Cut with a floured 2 1/2" round cookie cutter. |
| Place 2" apart on greased baking sheets. |
| Sprinkle with sugar if desired. |
| Bake at 350 for 12-16 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to |
| wire racks to cool. |
